Location & Land useGreece is located in Southern Europe. It is between Albania and Turkey. Around 1/3 of the population of Greece lives in Athens, the rest is dispersed throughout the country. Athens is the capital of Greece, and is a very popular tourist destination.
Greece produces a variety of natural resources. Some of these resources are ignite, petroleum, iron ore, bauxite, lead, zinc, nickel, magnesite, marble, and salt. Over 60% of the land is used for agricultural use, 30% is for the forests, while the rest is used for other uses. This land utilization map shows how the land in Greece is used.

ClimateGreece has a very mild climate. It has cold, wet winters, and dry, hot summers. December and January are the months with the most rainfall, and the temperatures usually fall between 10°-15° Celsius (50°-59°Fahrenheit). July and August are the warmest months, and the temperatures are usually around 30°-35° Celsius (86°-95° Fahrenheit). This Mediterranean climate also allows for olives, corn, tomatoes, wheat, etc. to grow and thrive.
