The housing in Greece is usually stone homes. There are also many single-family, and apartment style homes. There are three main types of building designs started in Greece, and are still used today. These are the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian styles. Doric style is simple circular capitals at the top of columns. Ionic style is more slender, and has a spiral column. Corinthian style is more elaborate than Doric and Ionic.
TaxesThe taxes in Greece are progressive. This means that the taxes change according to the amount of taxable money (higher income=higher taxes). Tax payers pay between 22%-45% of their income to the government. Property tax in Greece is about 15%, while sales tax is very high at 19%. Greece has some of the highest taxes in Europe. The average person in Greece makes about $27,800, and the cost for just a place to live is roughly $1,000.
